the Yuri Gagarin Record: Both sides of a 45rpm single from 1961 featuring a Russian announcer (a-side) & a German announcer (b-side) doing an overlong & (presumably) platitudinous setup, followed by some pretty neat audio of Gagarin’s spaceflight.
Study Guide for Parents: I deliberately left in the announcer audio to help introduce to kids the concept of ‘waiting,’ which was a common activity in the 20th century. In fact, behind the Iron Curtain where Gagarin lived, people often waited for household items like toilet paper for five minutes, or even longer.
